Harper’s Bazaar magazine (Chinese edition) held their sixth annual charity gala in Beijing last Friday (Aug 22) with the attendance of some 300 celebrities, including A-list stars like Michelle Yeoh, Zhang Ziyi,liu yi fei and former UK’s Prime Minister Tony Blair etc. The 2008 gala managed to raise 10.35 million Yuan (~USD1.5 million) which will be channelled to the relief work in quake-hit areas in Sichuan province.

Chinese young actress Liu Yifei attends the 2008 Bazaar charity gala held in Beijing on August 22, 2008. The proceeds of the charity auction will be used for the relief work in quake-stricken areas in Sichuan province. Launched by Chinese edition of "Harper's Bazaar" magazine, one of China's most widely circulated avant-garde vogue publications, the fundraising gala gathered together nearly 350 well-known Chinese movie stars, TV hosts, entrepreneurs and other social elites. This is the 6th consecutive year that the charity dinner has been held.

Yifei acted as presenter jointly with Chen Kun (her costar in NOBLE FAMILY), Sun Li (played Yifei's mother in CHINESE PALADIN) and Huang Lei (Sun Li's husband) to present the Cartier Pendant Set sold for charity for auctioneer No. 89 at 1,200,000 (1.2 million) yuan.
Afterwards, in the charity auction Yifei bid 450,000 yuan herself for a Tiffany Crystal Lantern Necklace designed by Paloma Picasso (the daughter of the famous painter, Pablo Picasso).
(The necklace has a reference value of 150,000 yuan, so Yifei paid three times that value for charity)
